Discover Scuba Diving, DSD
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving, DSD. is an excellent starting point for those new to diving. This shorter course introduces scuba diving in shallow water where students are taught the basics, including equipment usage, breathing, buoyancy and safety protocols. This is followed by a dive into deeper water where you can practice your new skills underwater for the first time under the guidance of experienced instructors at a max depth of 40ft.
PADI open water certification
For those looking to take their diving skills to the next level, obtaining an Open Water Certification is the next step. This certification allows you to dive independently, is recognised worldwide, and can take 3-4 days, depending on the Dive company.
The PADI Open Water Diver begins by learning the fundamentals of diving, which can be conveniently completed through PADI eLearning. This is followed by confined (usually in a swimming pool) and open-water training. You’ll learn essential diving skills and safety procedures and gain hands-on experience in the ocean with the guidance of an experienced instructor. Additionally, you must complete a 10-minute swim/float to show comfort in the water. Once you’re a certified diver, you can enhance your skills and knowledge through PADI speciality courses for different interests and skill levels. Examples include Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Underwater Photographers, among other higher-level courses.
Kids and teens
Starting with the youngest, children can get involved with the Bubblemaker (ages 8+) or Seal Team (ages 8+) programs, which are great ways to experience scuba diving.
